Injection molding of plastic, or plastic injection molding, is a so-called primary molding process.

Injection molding machines melt and liquefy plastic raw material inside a closed cylinder. Friction, supported by external heat, is used to plasticize the plastic in this cylinder.

Once the plastic has melted, it is injected: Here, the compound is injected into a mold at high pressure. This mold is also called an injection mold.

In the cavity of the injection mold, the shape and surface structure of the manufactured injection molded parts are fixed and cool down there. After it has returned to a solid aggregate state, the injection mold can be opened and the finished injection molded part removed.
